Anna Nicole Smith’s rise from rags to riches has been explored in a new Netflix documentary about her life, but one shocking allegation stands out.
A friend of the late model claims her estranged father tried to have sex with Smith after a Playboy party in 1993 in Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me.
According to the film, the Guess model hired a private investigator to track down her estranged father, Donald Hogan, and invited him and her half-brother, Donnie, to be her guests at the party where she was being named Playmate of the Year in Los Angeles.
‘She told me that her father had tried to have sex with her,’ Melissa ‘Missy’ Byrum claimed.
‘I was really sad to see that. She was so so disappointed.’
Byrum has also claimed to have been romantically involved with Smith, telling People they began dating secretly in 1992.
Byrum asserted she and Smith married in a backyard ceremony, but ultimately broke up due to the cover model’s drug use.
The starlet was raised by her single mother and never knew her father.
She was only at a baby at the time her dad served six months in jail after pleading guilty to raping Smith’s then 10-year-old aunt.
When confronted with the allegation, her brother, Donnie, was at first disturbed, but then conceded it could be true.
‘My dad? Assaulted her? That would be like him, but is it true?’ It couldn’t be,’ he said in shocked disbelief.
‘I was there every step of the way, but I wouldn’t put it past him. I guess I wasn’t there all the time, so it could be true.’
‘My father is not the type of guy you want to be alone with,’ he explained.
‘You’re not going to feel safe. He’s a monster.’
Smith’s half-sister, Donna Hogan, claimed she was also one of her father’s victims in the 2007 book Train Wreck: The Life and Death of Anna Nicole Smith.
Donna claimed Donald was a violent alcoholic who ‘abused all the other women in his life, including me, his own daughter.’
Smith died of an accidental drug overdose in February 2007, just months after her son Daniel’s death in September 2006 at age 20.
She was survived by her daughter, Dannielynn Burkhead, now 16, from the model’s relationship with photographer Larry Burkhead, 50.
