The Barbie movie world tour has been filled with delightful outfits in vibrant candy colors. Margot Robbie, the film’s lead actress, has consistently impressed with her custom-designed ensembles for the pink carpet, many of which pay tribute to iconic Barbie dolls.
During the London premiere last night, Margot amazed everyone in a stunning Vivienne Westwood dress in a delicate baby pink hue. This dress was inspired by the “Enchanted Evening” Barbie, originally released in 1960 and reproduced in 1995. It featured a corseted bodice, a flowing train, and Robbie accessorized it with a fluffy white stole, opera gloves, and a layered pearl choker. However, later in the evening, she opted for a different style, moving away from her ultra-feminine looks.
For the second part of the Barbie film promotion in London, Margot changed into a captivating custom-made mini dress. Designed by Turkish-British designer Dilara Fındıkoğlu, a graduate from CSM (Central Saint Martins), this ultra-short crimson satin dress was strapless, cinched at the waist, and had corsetry panels across the front. Margot completed the striking look with a pair of matching red sandals.
It’s worth noting that Margot wasn’t the only one showcasing Dilara’s designs on the pink carpet. Her co-star Hari Nef chose to wear the finale piece from Dilara’s autumn/winter 2023 collection, titled “Joan’s Knives.” This black dress, accentuating the waist, featured a high neck, capped sleeves, and was embellished with an assortment of ornamental kitchen knives. The ensemble was paired with Gianvito Rossi Elle mules. After an abundance of pink outfits on the film’s promotional tour, the stars’ decision to embrace a contrasting aesthetic, curated by one of London Fashion Week’s most exciting talents, brought a refreshing change.
