“Sandra Bullock’s Family Commends Her Exceptional Care for Longtime Partner Bryan Randall During His Silent Struggle with ALS (MND in the UK) Prior to His Heartbreaking Passing at 57.
In a statement released on Monday, the family of the photographer revealed that he peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 5, after a three-year battle with ALS since his diagnosis. Bullock’s sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, took to Instagram to mourn Bryan’s loss and acknowledge her sister’s dedicated caregiving role.
Gesine began, ‘I’m certain that Bry has discovered the most idyllic fishing spot in heaven, casting his line into lively rivers teeming with salmon.’ She reflected on the cruelty of ALS but found solace in knowing her incredible sister and a dedicated team of nurses provided unparalleled care for him in their home.
The heartfelt post concluded with ‘Rest in peace, Bryan,’ and a call for donations to the ALS Association and Massachusetts General Hospital.
Sandra Bullock first crossed paths with Bryan, a former model turned photographer, in 2015 when he photographed her son Louis’s birthday celebration. Their meeting marked a significant chapter after her previous public relationships, including a challenging divorce from Jesse James, as well as emotional entanglements with other celebrities like Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.
Their most recent public appearance occurred in July 2020, when they attended an intimate gathering in Studio City, where Bryan’s adoring gaze at Sandra was captured by the cameras.
Bryan Randall’s family shared with People, ‘It is with heavy hearts that we announce Bryan Randall’s peaceful passing on August 5th, following a three-year battle with ALS.’ They respected his choice to keep his illness private and expressed gratitude to the compassionate doctors and dedicated nurses who supported them throughout.
The family statement acknowledged the difficulty of bidding farewell to Bryan and requested privacy during this grieving period.
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease in honor of the famed baseball player who was diagnosed in 1939, remains incurable and fatal. Its progression varies among patients, with a typical life expectancy of two to five years after symptom onset. However, some individuals, around 10 percent, live beyond a decade with the disease.
Sandra Bullock and Bryan Randall do not share biological children but are parents to two adopted children: Louis, 13, and Laila, 11. Bryan has an adult daughter named Skylar from a previous relationship.
While Sandra and Bryan maintained a private romance, the actress praised her partner during a 2021 appearance on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk. She discussed her divorce from ex-husband Jesse James and highlighted the profound love and connection she shared with Bryan. Bullock expressed that a legal document wasn’t necessary to validate her commitment to being a devoted partner and mother, emphasizing her unwavering presence during challenging times.
Shortly after meeting, Sandra informed Bryan of her intention to adopt a second child. His response reflected a mix of happiness and apprehension about the upcoming addition to their family.
