Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Pathan’ is doing a ‘dream run’ at the Indian box office. There is no sign of this pace slowing down. According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, on the ninth day of its release, Pathan crossed the Rs 700 crore mark at the global box office. The film managed to earn 15 crores to 16 crores on the second Thursday.
The film had an opening of Rs 55 crore at the Indian box office on Wednesday. Since its mid-week release, it enjoyed an extended weekend of five days. At that time, it could cross the figure of 500 crores worldwide. It also became the highest-grossing film on the opening weekend in the history of Hindi films. Directed by Siddharth Anand, ‘Pathan’ has yet to break the records of ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ and ‘Baahubali 2’.
Pathan is about to break the record of ‘Dangal’. Pathan’s earnings in India so far are 387.38 crores (net). Pathan is based on Yash Raj Banner’s defunct spy universe. Earlier, Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, and War films have been made in this universe.
Salman Khan plays the role of Tiger in Pathan. Fans were hoping to have Hrithik in Pathan too, but it didn’t happen. Director Siddharth Anand said, “We could have put Hrithik or any other actor on board, but there was no talk of Salman and Shahrukh acting in the film before.” I think the last time they acted together was in 1996 with Karan Arjun.
Also, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham starrer Pathan is running in its second week in Indian theaters. With no big release this weekend, Pathan’s momentum will continue. Karthik Aryan has postponed the release date of ‘Shahzada’ to honor Shahrukh. Now, this film will be released on February 17.
