A complaint has been filed against the producer of Adipurush, director Om Raut and the cast of the film over the film’s new poster for hurting the religious sentiments of people by inappropriately displaying the character of Hindu mythology.
Sanjay Dinanath Tiwari, who describes himself as a preacher of Sanatan Dharma, has complained to Mumbai’s Sakinaka police station through Mumbai High Court Advocates – Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra.
As per the complaint, Sanjay has stated that Adipurush has been made on the biography of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram from the holy book Ramcharitmanas. He alleged that the new poster of Adipurush shows Lord Ram in a costume contrary to the natural spirit and nature of Ramcharitmanas mentioned in the Hindu scripture.
According to a report in India Today, the complainant also claims that all the characters of Ramayana aren’t wearing Janeu which holds a special importance in Hindu Sanatani Dharma. An FIR has been registered under Section 295 (A), 298, 500, 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
A few days ago, the makers of Adipurush unveiled a new poster of the cast on the auspicious occasion of Ram Navami, a festival celebrated to mark Lord Ram’s birth anniversary. In the poster, Prabhas and Sunny are seen carrying a bow and an arrow donning armor and dhoti. Kriti is in a simple sari with her head covered, while Devdatta is seen bowing down in the service of the trio.
